- 1/2 cups of water
- 1/4 cup of dark roast coffee beans

- Reduce heat to low and let the coffee simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the coffee has been brewed, remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes to allow the grounds to settle.
- Using a ladle or strainer, pour the coffee into small clay cups called jarritos.
- Add 1/4 cup of piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar) to the pot and stir until dissolved.
- Pour the sugar mixture over the coffee in the jars.
